Key Objectives

As an Azure Architect, you will:

• Design and implement Azure solutions that meet client requirements for scalability, security, and performance

• Lead cloud architecture projects, ensuring successful deployment and integration of Azure services

• Collaborate with clients to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions

• Provide guidance on Azure best practices, governance, and compliance standards

• Mentor and support team members in developing Azure-related skills and knowledge

• To excel as an Azure Architect, candidates should also have expert level experience in:

  • Identity, Governance, and Monitoring Solutions:

    • Expertise in managing Microsoft Entra ID, including creating and managing users, groups, and properties

    • Proficiency in configuring self-service password reset (SSPR) and managing external users

    • Ability to assign and manage roles at different scopes, interpret access assignments, and manage built-in Azure roles

    • Experience with Azure subscriptions and governance, including policies, resource locks, tags, and cost management

    • Familiarity with management groups for efficient organization of resources

    • Proficiency in designing logging and monitoring solutions, including recommending routing and monitoring strategies

    • Experience recommending identity management and authentication solutions for Azure and hybrid environments

    • Ability to design governance structures for resource management, compliance, and identity governance

    • Proficiency in monitoring resources using Azure Monitor, including interpreting metrics, configuring logs, and setting up alerts

    • Expertise in analyzing logs, monitoring virtual machines, storage accounts, and networks using Azure Monitor Insights and Network Watcher

    • Skilled in implementing backup and recovery solutions using Recovery Services vaults, Azure Backup, and Site Recovery

    • Experience performing failovers to secondary regions and configuring backup policies and alerts

  • Data Storage Solutions:

    • Proficiency in configuring Azure Storage firewalls, virtual networks, and shared access signature (SAS) tokens

    • Expertise in managing storage accounts, including encryption, redundancy, object replication, and lifecycle management

    • Experience with Azure Files and Blob Storage, including configuring file shares, blob containers, storage tiers, and backup strategies

    • Skilled in data transfer and management using Azure Storage Explorer and AzCopy

    • Expertise in designing solutions for storing relational, semi-structured, and unstructured data

    • Ability to recommend database service tiers, compute tiers, and solutions for scalability, protection, and durability

    • Skilled in recommending cost-efficient data storage solutions balanced with performance

    • Experience in data integration and analysis solution design

  • Business Continuity Solutions:

    • Proficiency in designing disaster recovery and backup solutions for Azure and hybrid workloads, including compute, databases, and unstructured data

    • Expertise in creating high-availability solutions for compute and all forms of data

  • Infrastructure Solutions:

    • Advanced knowledge of Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates and Bicep files for automating resource deployment

    • Experience creating and configuring virtual machines, including encryption, disk management, availability zones, and scale sets

    • Proficiency in provisioning and managing containers using Azure Container Instances and Azure Container Apps

    • Expertise in managing Azure App Services, including scaling, TLS certificates, DNS mapping, backups, and deployment slots

    • Strong ability to design compute solutions, including virtual machines, container-based, serverless, and batch processing architectures

    • Knowledge of application architecture design, including messaging, event-driven architectures, API integration, caching, configuration management, and automated deployment

    • Experience in designing network solutions, including connectivity for Azure resources to the internet or on-premises, performance optimization, and load balancing

    • Skilled in creating and configuring virtual networks, subnets, and peering

    • Expertise in implementing secure access to virtual networks using network security groups (NSGs), application security groups, service endpoints, and private endpoints

    • Proficiency in configuring Azure DNS, load balancers, and troubleshooting network connectivity and load balancing issues

    • Familiarity with Azure Bastion for secure remote access

Education and Experience

While we value experience, we prioritize a willingness to learn and grow.

Required:

• 10+ years of industry experience in IT or related fields

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services that demonstrates mastery of the technology theory and hands on implementations

• Current Microsoft certifications:

  • AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate certification

  • AZ-305: Designing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions certification

Preferred:

• 4-year computer science degree

Physical Requirements

This is a remote position requiring prolonged periods of sitting and working at a desk. You should have a suitable home office environment with reliable internet connectivity to facilitate virtual collaboration and communication.
